An investigation of in situ epoxidized linseed oil, modified with five aromatic amines, revealed that certain of the reaction products are good antioxidants for rubber vulcanizates - and also markedly affect the Mooney viscosity of the compounds during processing. The new materials thus can be used as bifunctional (antioxidant/plasticizer) additives for natural rubber compounds. Extensive experimental data are tabulated, plotted and discussed.
