Phase decomposition and its influence on the 475 degree C embrittlement for Fe-30% Cr, Fe-45% Cr and Fe-45% Cr-5% Co alloys were investigated. The results obtained are as follows: The modulated structure is thought to be formed by spinodal decomposition in these alloys. The wavelength of the structure, about 90 A, does not change by aging, while the amplitudes increase with the progress of aging. With the increment of the Cr content in the periodic zone (modulated structure), hardness and yield stress increase.
