The process of periodic fractionation of multicomponent mixtures in a two-section column with reservoir in the middle of it was studied in framework of the model of minimum reflux. Behaviour of the system at all possible values of parameters was considered. The presence of steady states specific of the given process was ascertained. An illustrative geometric description of the process is provided. In contrast to periodic and retrograde fractionation, the dynamics of the given process (variation of concentration in reservoir) depends considerably on process conditions, which provides a great choice of means for solving problems of separation and opens up new possibilities, as compared with conventional processes.
