The present communication gives an outline of all technical difficulties encountered, first at the design stage, and afterwards during the execution of the Alpine crossing of the Netherlands-Italy gas pipeline. It thus endeavors to describe all exceptional aspects of this achievement, sometimes even in detail, depending on the importance of the item.
