摘要
This paper describes a new fabrication technique of a lens-ended fiber for optical connector using a microtorch or an arc discharge method. A spherical tip of an optical fiber can be easily formed by the surface tension of melting glass. The shape of the microlens formed at the fiber end depends slightly on the thermal melting methods of a microtorch and an arc discharge. It is found that the loss of the connector is leses than 0. 5dB.
