RESISTANCE TUNING OF THE FREQUENCY OF A TUNNEL DIODE OSCILLATOR.

The use of adjustable resistors for tuning the frequency of a tunnel diode (TD) oscillator makes it possible to extend the frequency range with a comparatively small degree of nonuniformity of the output voltage. The necessity for including a choke in the circuit with sufficiently large inductance to ensure stable operation of the oscillator supplied with dc current through a regulating resistor in the inductive branch of the circuit, adds substantially to the weight and size of the device. This drawback can be eliminated and the upper frequency limit of the tuning range extended by inserting an isolating capacitance in series with one of the control resistors of the TD oscillator.
