摘要
The velocimeters currently used to measure the velocity of fluid flows in materials engineering research are reviewed, with particular emphasis on measuring techniques for molten metal flow velocities at high very high temperature. The most commonly used velocimeters at around room temperature include pitot tube, hot wire/film anemometers, laser Doppler velocimeters, magnet probe, propeller type velocimeter, and particle imaging velocimetry (PIV). On the other hand, the most commonly used velocimeters for molten metals at very high temperatures include the reaction probe, Karman vortex probe, magnet probe, melting probe, and PIV.
