Evaporative roof spraying systems are most effective when the plant has a large roof area in proportion to exposed walls and sensible-to-total heat ratios are high. Water consumption seldom average more than 10 oz/100 sq ft of roof surface in a 6-min period, but the roof temperature is typically reduced 40 to 60 degree . This article discusses the evaporative cooling process, applications, roof protection, and economics.
