The lifetime of an exhaust system of a car is determined by the driving conditions, the used materials and for a considerable amount by the design. This paper describes the possibility to increase the lifetime considerably by using a special design to remove the condensate out of the silencer. This will be achieved under the same driving conditions, using the same materials and without an increase of costs. By using the Venturi principal, a continuous removal of the exhaust condensate leads to a significant decrease of the inner corrosion of the silencer and therefore to a much longer life time.
