摘要：
A study of a promising high-frequency acousto-optic mode-conversion modulator is given. Some simple phase matching conditions indicate the case for deflection and mode conversion of optical guided waves by acoustic surface waves and a number of considerations on a projected device are stated. Experimental work to date has been on high frequency surface acoustic wave transducers and transmission systems. Optical surface waveguides and couplers for use in interacting systems have also been fabricated.
