The work of the existing backup rolls was analyzed, and a project to optimize the backup rolls on 4-stand tandem cold strip mill was put forward. The optimization design of highly adaptive backup rolls and its application to the 4-stand tandem cold strip mill at Anshan Iron and Steel Co. were introduced. The target function is strip shape, and the optimization method is genetic algorithm.
