A new video record system is described, in which the color TV information stored on the record surface in the form of microscopic deepenings ( ″pits″ ) is read off optically according to the reflection principle. aAn electrooptical follow-up system directs the scanning system exactly along the helical track and maintains a constant space between the lens system and the surface of the record. The 30-cm record with extended play (VLP) has a reproduction time of approx. 30 min. It is possible to reproduce from it both stereo sounds as well as sounds in two different languages.
