The dynamics of change in the sulfur content of pig iron in the blast-furnace trough, the mixer, and the casting machine was studied. The results of the laboratory studies and commercial trials showed that the sulfur contents of pig iron tapped from the blast furnace and present in the ladle before transfer to the mixer are not the same.
