A dispersion hardening (age hardening) Al-0. 49Mg-0. 54Si-0. 115Zn alloy was aged 3. 5 hr at either 230 or 320 C to obtain Mg//2Si precipitates of different size and different distance lambda from each other and also different widths (a) of Precipitate-denuded zones along the grain boundaries. Investigation of the effect of creep testing at 200 C, on lambda and (a) by transmission electron microscopy showed that only (a) was affected. Possible explanations are discussed.
