An analysis of thermal stresses occurring in a sample due to hysteresic losses under cyclic loading is presented. Using the example of the tests on 5 construction materials at 20 kHz, it is shown that in the case of a high coefficient of energy dissipation and low heat conductivity (the alloy 1Cr18Ni10Ti), the thermal stresses can attain considerable values and their disregard may lead to errors in the determination of stresses in the materials tested. At the same time, for other investigated materials, these stresses do not exceed 3. 5% of the endurance llimit on the basis of 10**9 cycle and do not have, in practice, any influence on the fatigue processes.
