Wear patterns were studied on used refiner plates from Canadian RMP, TMP and CTMP mills. Samples of both cast iron and cast stainless steel plates were examined. Bar rounding, clashing, and erosion (due to cavitation and/or liquid droplet impingement) were the most commonly observed wear patterns.
