Establishing a suitable model of rotor systems which displays non-stationary processes correctly and effectively is a key for system design, condition monitoring and fault diagnosis of rotor systems. In this paper the effects of motor on rotor systems is considered and an electromechanical-coupling model is established. By simulating two typical transient processes such as self-excited oscillations caused by serious-wound capacitors in power network, and twisting vibration resulted by loads changing, a conclusion was proved that the electromechanical-coupling model is very useful in analyzing dynamical principles of non-stationary processes.
