摘要
A battery of tests was used for the characterization of chlorinated organic material extractable from fully bleached pulp. Samples of the pulps contained 260-2220 ppm total organically bound chlorine and gave acetone extracts which contained 6.15-28.99% Cl and had molecular weight averages of 319-1008. Extracts from birch had the highest concentration of Cl and had the highest molecular weight averages. The chlorinated organic material in the extracts was not easily analyzed by gas chromatography or fractionated on silica gel. Reversed-phase thin layer chromatography was used to fractionate the extracts according to lipophilicity. Over 90% of the chlorinated organic material in the pulp extracts was highly lipophilic and had log Pow > 4.0. NMR spectrometry showed that the aromatic content of the extracts was very low.
