Those parameters include the transient temperature, thermal absorption and their derivatives. This paper offers a group of mathematical formulas for the calculation of those parameters. By means of actual measurements, the fair agreement between results calculated from corresponding formulas and data from experimental tests shows that these formulas are applicable when the value 2/ pi ** minus ** one-half K//FK//bFo** minus ** one-half less than 0. 4. Furthermore, based on the formulas presented, a discussion is given concerning the main factors that affect those parameters. A nearly linear relationship between the thermal absorption Q and the temperature gradient of castings is deduced.
