The phase equilibrium of initially undeformed polystyrene (with different degree of cross-linking-cyclohexane gels an is studied under conditions of uniaxial stretching and hydrostatic compression. A fluctuating mechanism of phase separation of the gels was observed. This mechanism is manifested as an oscillatory rate of growth of turbidity of the gels, extrusion of the solvent, and nonmonotonic variation of their geometric dimensions and of the radii of the light-scattering particles produced in them.
