A segmented paraboloidal type concentrating collector was designed and fabricated. Tracking of the sun was accomplished by rotating the collector about its two axis. Plane mirrors were used as reflecting surface. Collector characteristics were observed without water and with different quantities of water in the absorber. The maximum surface temperature of the absorber without water was 330 degree C at 11:30 hrs on the test day. It was found that the reflector efficiency was maximum, i. e. , 42% at 11:30 hrs while heating 500 cc of water for generating steam.
