In Japan, research and development on electrical insulation for use at temperatures higher than 300°C has progressed significantly in order to reduce the size of electrical equipment and to utilize it directly in high temperature conditions without refrigeration. This paper describes recent progress in Japan in the research and development of insulating materials, insulated wires, and insulation systems for temperatures higher than 300°C.
