A change in the working of a printed circuit board (PCB) tool which results in the increased efficiencies at one board-level computer supplier is discussed. Mentor Graphics released an add-on to its high-end PCB design tools that would manage the process of merging changes made by different designers to a manually partitioned board. ExtremePCB allows as many as 15 designers to place components and route between them at the same time. The tool was put into action in beta-release form at Radstone Technology, the Towcester-based maker of embedded boards for defense and avionics systems.
