Measuring Dust Concentration After Wet Precipitators in the Potash Industry.

To measure the dust concentration after wet precipitators, a sampler arrangement composed of impinger washing bottles was tested, compared with gravimetric dust detectors under defined conditions and put under trial in the field. The wet sampler arrangement has proved to be better suited. Because of the good solubility of potash salts in water and their defined composition, the analysis of the washing bottle content creates no problems (Cl** minus determination after Volhard). This detector arrangement proves beneficial whenever the full solubility of the dust in the washing liquid is possible, the dust shows a defined composition and at least one major dust constituent is easy to analyze.
