This report presents the results of a study of the technical and economic feasibility of repowering a conventional reheat fossil fired steam power plant to a combined cycle system by the addition of a combustion turbine. Specifically, the study is directed toward those plants constructed within the past twenty years whose main components, especially the boilers, are still functional and not yet fully depreciated. The addition of combustion turbines while retaining much of the existing boiler provides an approach for increasing both power output and efficiency.
