摘要
The IBM PC and compatibles are gaining acceptance as tools even in the most sophisticated industrial settings, bringing real time ease and functions previously unavailable in factory and scientific engineering. Systems manufacturers are even including industrial-grade microcomputers in their dedicated equipment. This article claims this acceptance is derived from the PC bus, the IBM PC's open architecture bus that is currently being used as an alternative to the 8088-based S-100 and STD buses in low end applications. With the advent of the 80286-based IBM PC/AT and its bus, an alternative now exists for the higher performance Q-bus, Multibus I and II, and VMEbuses for applications requiring greater calculation capability and throughput.
