HeLa cells were incubated in the medium which contained tritiated thymidine. Thick sections (0.5 /im) were prepared for autoradiography and examined with high voltage electron microscope. Radioactive reaction was exclusively located on nuclei and chromosomes. The period of exposure time was greatly reduced compared with that of EMARG because of high concentration of radioisotope in thick sections. The resolution of HVEMARG was found to be high enough for biological analysis of the results. © 1977 Oxford University Press. All rights reserved.
