On-time sampling of one type of signal

Various approximations of correlation functions, such as families of Butterworth functions are widely used in digital signal transmission and processing systems for modeling and generating the signals. This paper points out some interesting features of the sampling process of a signal with a specified correlation function and determines the error of a zero-order extrapolation processing of a signal x(t), periodic with a stream of readings of intensity β, in terms of the γ2 criterion - the mean square, time-averaged and normalized to the variance of the signal.
