摘要
The water used in the washing circuit at South Celynen Colliery in South Wales has been examined to assess the ease of solids separation. This particular circuit contained 3.1% solids and was composed of an intimate mixture of clay minerals with some organic matter. Micro-electrophoretic measurements show that charge reversal occurs at pH 4.9. At this pH some particles moved towards the anode, some towards the cathode and some were virtually at rest. Thus it appears that the water examined contained fine material of the same average composition, any fine coal being coated with slimes.
