Histogram-based technology is often used to enhance the low contrast infrared image, but it will amplify the noises in the infrared image. In this paper, the technique of using the dyadic wavelet transform to establish the gradients of the image is introduced. It can enhance the contrast of the low contrast infrared image by transforming the gradients of the image and also restrain the amplification of noises.
