A frequency-hopping spread-spectrum multiple-access (FH-SSMA) system suitable for speech communication over a TV channel has been described. Design of addresses for the FH-SSMA has been considered. Following an algorithm suggested by Cooper and Nettleton, addresses for 12 subscribers of the system have been obtained. It is shown that a larger number of addresses would be possible provided a larger channel bandwidth is available. A practical situation where more than two subscribers start their communication at random time intervals has been studied. System performance in terms of the probabilities of error and false detection is reported.
