Some novel amide monomers were examined. N,N,-dimethyl-p-vinlybenzamide was prepard conveniently and in good yield, and produced porous polar rigid resin beads with attractive physico-chemical properties. Inclusion of N-(poly-vinylbenzoyl) sarcosine methyl ester as a comonomer provided sites in the resin for the initial activation and attachment in 'solid phase' synthesis. 21 res.
