Passenger environment on railway premises in general, but especially in vehicles is considered. In particular, thermal environment, noise, lighting, riding properties and vibrations, seats, vehicle layout and space allocation, implications of vehicle life, the role of maintenance, the ″total journey″ environment, and areas of development are discussed with a view towards maximizing passenger comfort.
