The paper deals with the sources of noise in buses as well as with the latest results of noise reduction in the inter-urban test bus AS 3500 E giving a description of the alterations carried out. With the test bus AS 3500 E it was possible to reduce the internal and external noise without armoring the engine compartment. An improvement was achieved by taking measures at the very source of engine noise.
