This article describes the current technology of the elements of dot-matrix liquid crystal display (LCD) modules, their display panels, drive circuits and data transfer methods. Improving the time-division characteristic at 1/64 duty requires LCD materials with low dielectric anisotropy, small viscosity resistance and large specific resistance. Dot-matrix LCD modules consume less power, have very simple drive cirucuits and are much thinner than current cathode ray tubes (CRT).
