Recently, the phase transition discovered in TmTe at TQ = 1.8 is characterized an antiferroquadrupolar by neutron diffraction. An experimental evidence is show that such field-induced antiferromagnetic structure indeed exist in TmTe, strongly supporting the assumption of an antiferoquadropolar order in this material. It is also shown that relevant information regarding the nature of the quadrupolar order parameter can be obtained from a thorough symmetry analysis of the magnetic diffraction results.
