Effect of Geometry on the Formability Limit Curve of Aluminum Sheet.

Formability limit curves have been constructed for aluminum sheet Al 99. 5 under various experimental conditions. Two dies with different principal radii of curvature were used for stretching of aluminum sheet specimens. By varying the specimen dimensions, the position of the failure spot varies with respect to the principal axis. The geometry and the position of the failure spot were found to have a major influence on the formability limit curve.
