FORMING SPIRAL PLATES ON PLATE BENDING ROLL - A SPECIAL TECHNIQUE.

For hydro-turbine parts and hydro-mechanical equipment for hydroelectric power stations, steel structures like straight shells, conical shells, elliptical shapes and spiral casings, etc must be formed. Spiral casings have so far been formed on brake press only. A special technique of forming spiral shells on the plate bending rool is described in this paper. Various rolling techniques for different shapes are also explained. This newly developed technique shall not only save time but also cost and thus help expedite hydropower generation programs.
