Study of Nickel Extraction from Limonitic Laterite Ores with the Help of Polyamine Solutions.

Investigations conducted with the help of alkaline amine-containing solutions reveal that nickel can be extracted from limonitic laterite ores by pressure leaching without pretreatment of the ore. The overall leaching kinetics and mechanism are governed by the phase transformation of the nickel containing goethite into hematite, and the leaching properties of the polyamines at elevated temperatures. The process permits selective leaching of nickel and can be applied to a wide variety of lateritic ores.
