The communication summarizes results of a study on the kinetics of reaction of selenium vapor with zirconium metal. The thermogravimetric method was used at 534 degree C for Se//2 partial pressures from 0. 26 to 9. 44 kPa. X-ray diffraction analysis of the scale indicated hexagonal ZrSe//2 as the major reaction product, but an unidentified phase was also present.
