This paper describes the design, the erection and necessity of the new Bridge across the river Havel in the course of the by-pass of the city Plaue. Starting from defined boundary conditions the structural design and it's realization in the construction phase will be explained. The structure is a multiple-span haunched beam bridge with a hollow box as composite construction. In the main pier areas compression concrete is used. Further this paper comments on the influence of the concrete placing sequence on tension stresses in the concrete slab and on the economic use of compression concrete in middle span areas.
