Fluid bed agglomerator/dryers were introduced to the pharmaceutical industry in the United States in 1975. Since then, they have seen wide acceptance and technical refinement primarily in their use as a single vessel processor in the preparation of granulated material for solid dosage forms in single or continuous batches. This article shows that the fluid bed agglomerator/dryer as a granulation processor for solid dosage form offers significant advantages over conventional techniques.
