This report details some aspects of the X-ray Real-Time Imaging systems applied for weld inspection. A survey of various types of radiation sources having a very small focal spot size is made, first comparing their total unsharpness values with those of the conventional film techniques. Then, as assessment is made of the following problems connected with the equipment: conversion screens, television cameras, linear arrays of photodiodes, image processing, display methods, image quality measurement, recording. For each subject the current situation and the future developments are examined.
