Reasons for the selection of all-hydraulic drilling at Sweden's Stekenjokk copper-zinc mine are explained, and the early results of underground all-hydraulic drilling for primary ore production and mine development are briefly discussed. Initial testing of hydraulic drills was conducted by a joint agreement between Boliden Metall AB, operator of the mine, and Atlas Copco. Although some problems remain, underground drill productivity is moving ahead at Stekenjokk.
