Investigations have been carried out in the United States, Japan, and West Germany as to how oily mill scale sludge could be recycled in steel mills. A sliding frame bin permits storage and batched discharge of sludge. The suitability of a mud pump for conveying was proven. The mixing problem was solved by using a continously operating plowshare mixer.
