Engineering Works for the LG 2 Hydroelectric Power Plant.

A description is given of the engineering works involved in the construction of the LG 2 hydroelectric power plant, a key component of the Grande River Complex in the James Bay territory of northern Quebec and the largest hydroelectric power plant in Canada. The LG 2 power plant will be phased into operation between February 1980 and July 1982. During this period 16 turbo-alternator sets, each with an output of 333 MW, will be installed to achieve a total output of 5328 MW. A network of some 29 dikes will be required in order to contain the retention waters of the LG 2 power plant.
