Research carried out to improve some components of urban electrical vehicles is described. In particular, progress in increasing the performance of lead-acid batteries (from 22 Wh/kg to 45 Wh/kg) and their service life (from 500 to 600 recharging cycles) is noted. Different solutions for motors and control organs and of vehicle structure are briefly reviewed. Experimental realization of prototypes is surveyed and problems of economic expediency are discussed. It is concluded that at the moment these vehicles would be too costly. Further development is necessary.
