It is difficult to realize mode-locking of a laser at 1.3 μm wave band. But the ultrashort pulse at that wave band are very meaningful for its applications in various fields. The passive mode-locking of a Nd:YAP laser at 1.34μm was successfully demonstrated in this study. By using BDN-3e dissolved in dimethyl sulfoxide, good mode-locked pulse train was obtained. The total energy of the pulse train reaches 2.2 mJ and 15.3 mJ for free state. The average pulse duration is 120 ps. The experimental setup and method were described in detail, and the experimental results were presented. Also the shortcomings of using the dimethyl sulfoxide as the solvent were pointed out.
