VIBRATIONS OF A CERTAIN DISCRETE-CONTINUOUS SYSTEM.

This paper deals with vibrations occurring in a discrete-continuous system consisting of a visco-elastic beam and a concentrated mass interconnected by means of elements with lumped, linear dissipative-spring characteristics. The methods of vibration have been determined under the assumption that the interactions in the discrete-continuous system do not affect the forms of eigenfunctions of the continuous system. This approach follows the methods used for determining forced vibrations in continuous systems. The equation of motion written in the matrix form have been solved on a digital computer.
