OPTICAL DATA LINK FOR PERSONAL COMPUTERS.

SUMILINK DF-252/UH has been developed suited for communications between personal computers in OA and FA applications. The DF-252/UH is an optical transmitter/receiver module dedicated to modulated signals with a 50% duty cycle such as for the Manchester, DMI, and Bi-Phase Mark. With a data rate of 4 Mbps (modulated signal of the 2 Mpbs NRZ code), it enables transmissions up to 1 km using PCF. The dynamic range of the receiver is more than 21 dB. The optical transmitter and receiver are constructed into a single unit to decrease the area occupied on the system board. Chip devices are used in the mounting method to reduce the size of the module and fabrication processes. The evaluation method employed places a heavy emphasis on the noise immunity characteristics and verifies the reliability for use under severe environmental conditions in FA applications.
